The reading bug is on the kid’s place page on aclibrary.org. (He must be ready to search great children books on bugs in the kid’s catalog)
It is on the children’s page on the library’s website
He is in the Kid’s Place colorful homepage .
i think it is on the Kid’s Place homepage
It is sitting on the word “Events!” which is on the left column of the “Kid’s Place” page.
I would like to enter my son Christian into this Catch the Reading Bug, he attends Del Rey and is currently in summer school. Isn’t there a prize for doing good?
He will be in the 2nd grade in the fall, does he need to come into the library or can we read directly from your website?
This message is in response to the inquiry about enrolling in Catch the Reading Bug.
The short answer is: Yes you do need to come to the library to pick up the gameboard and get started playing the game. Once you have the gameboard you can read wherever you are and whatever reading material you like. You keep track of each 30 minute reading time period by coloring in one of the ladybugs on the inside of the gameboard. Then when you come to the library again, you get to spin the dial once for each 30 minute period of reading to determine which type of bug you can stamp on the bingo part of the gameboard. You do earn prizes for getting your first row of bugs on the bingo board and again when you’ve stamped all the bugs blacking out the bingo.
More information is on the website and blog including the location of our branches and their open hours. It sounds like your closest branch is San Lorenzo. Also be sure to take a look at all the fun events planned at the library.
In addition to Catch the Reading Bug whitch is for all ages, the library is also offering a special game just for teens and also one just for adults. What a great way to make reading a family affair!
