It has been a great summer for Get a Clue @ the Alameda County Library! There is still time to sign-up, read and win prizes.

At the San Lorenzo Branch we have had  great help from our super Kidpower Kids. Spider and the Fly

We have also had stupendious programs like:   P&T Puppet Theater presents “The Adventures of Spider and Fly; The Dewey Decimal  Mystery”

and a  sensational  Harry Potter Celebration, P & T

 Clown

and a sintillating performance by

                                        Derique the Clown.

For San Lorenzo’s grand finale, sure to be super, come Thursday August 16, 2:00 to see Dan Chan the Magic Man and Kat Chan Acrobat.

How has your summer of 2007 been? What have you read  this summer that you would like to tell other kids about?

Remember it isn’t too late to sign-up and play the Summer Reading Game @ an Alameda County Library near you!

Get A Clue With Ike LaRue!

There’s still time to sign up for Get a Clue @ Your Library,     Alameda County’s Summer Reading Game for kids: signups are happening through August 18. And (in case you haven’t been reading this blog over the summer) Ike La Rue (from the books by Mark Teague) is on the game board! Ike stars in Dear Mrs. LaRue (2002) as a dog who’s been sent to Igor Brotweiler’s Canine Academy for obedience training, and writes letters to home complaining of what an awful place the Academy is and how terribly he’s being treated (when the reader can see otherwise!) In the follow-up,  Detective LaRue (2004), Ike is still trying to clear his good name!

If you are a Harry Potter fan/are into crafts, there’s The Book of Wizard Craft, by Janice Eaton Kilby. The book contains “Spells, Potions, Fantastic Tales & 50 Enchanting Things to Make” with directions for such things as wizard’s clothing, a trunk for storing wizard regalia, a nifty three-way picture, making a terrarium with plants that eat things, fairy circles, and a secret journal. There are recipes for different inks (including invisible ink!) and a section with spooky recipes, and (of course) all sorts of crafts.

Have a great rest of the Summer!
